... BOY!!!!!

Like Walt said, we are officially going to be parents of a precious baby boy.  Thankfully, he cooperated and let us see that at the beginning of the ultrasound.  Of course, once we got that info, he decided to be a little stubborn about the rest of his anatomy, so we didn't get to see everything that the doc needed to see.  Secretly, I think he knew that Mommy wanted to see him again before he comes, so he worked that out for me!!  I will go back on February 25th for one last ultrasound (unless I decide to do one with an outside provider on my own, so that I can get the whole 3D/4D thing).

Everything is great with baby boy....  His heartbeat is fast and strong, and he is extremely active.  We're so excited, and can't wait to meet him! Yay!

We're still discussing names, so that announcement will come later, for those of you who are wondering...

Here's what's happening this week...

Your pregnancy: 16 weeks

How your baby's growing:

At 4 1/2 inches long (head to bottom) and 3 1/2 ounces, your baby is about the size of an avocado. In the next three weeks, he'll go through a tremendous growth spurt, though, doubling his weight and adding inches to his length. His lower limbs are much more developed now. His head is more erect than it has been, and his eyes have moved toward the front of his head. Your baby's ears are close to their final position, too. Some of his more advanced body systems are working, including his circulatory system and urinary tract. His heart is now pumping about 25 quarts of blood each day, circulating his total blood volume through his body many times. The patterning of his scalp has begun, though his hair isn't recognizable yet. Although closed, his eyes are moving (slowly), and he's even started growing toenails.
